Jaks Cabin Custom Lumber Contract
This agreement is made and entered into between JAKS CABIN INC. (Sawyer), and
__________________(Customer).
1. Sawyer agrees to cut Customers logs at Customers site for $40 per hundred board feet
of lumber cut. Charges are based on actual lumber cut rather than scaled volume. A board
foot of lumber is defined as 12" x 12" x 1". For example a board that is 2" x 6" x 10' is
considered 10 linear board feet.
2. In the addition to the above customer shall pay a $25 set up fee + $2 per one way
mileage fee from my location to customer’s site per mapquest. If subsequent
appointments at same location are needed, now or in the future, there is a 50% discount
for mileage.
3. Customer agrees to assist as a Helper and/or provide an able-bodied Helper(s), at least
18 years of age, to assist in loading logs and offloading the cut lumber. Depending on the
weight of logs being milled, thickness, and desired length, additional Helpers might be
needed. All logs shall be lined up parallel to mill location so that there can be continuous
loading of sawmill by rolling logs up the mill ramp without moving mill.
4. Helpers are not employees or agents of Sawyer. Customer shall be in charge of
Helper(s) and responsible for implementing the following safety rules applicable to the
conduct of Customer, Helper(s) and/or Spectator(s):
a. During set up do not attempt to help unless directed by Sawyer
b. Do not assist if you are impaired by alcohol, medications, fatigue or other
negative conditions.
c. Keep a distance of at least 10 feet while mill is in operation or until
directed otherwise by Sawyer
d. Spectators and/or pets must keep a distance of at least 20 feet from the mill
at all times
e. Do not load logs until directed to do so by Sawyer
f. Do not offload logs until directed to do so by Sawyer
g. Maintain a distance of 10 feet while mill is in operation
h. Maintain a clean and tidy work area. Be sure to keep it clear of any debris
you might trip or slip on.
i. Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including ear protection, safety
glasses and work gloves
5. If Customer is unable to provide helpers to assist, there will be a milling fee of $75 per
hour regardless of the amount of lumber cut.
6. Additional prepping of logs will result in a hourly fee of $45 per hour. Examples are:
chainsaw trimming, removing excess debris from log and removal of visible metal from
logs.
7. In the event that a saw blade is damaged or broken by any imbedded object there is a
$30 fee per blade fee.
8. Milling and handling of smaller logs (less than 4 feet) and unusual pieces may result in hourly charge!
9. All logs must be positioned parallel to the location designated for milling or an hourly fee of $45 will be added.
10. Payment in full shall be made at time of service. We accept cash, check and credit
cards.
